ASARU – Rückkehr aus der Tiefe. Bereits 1995 gründete Frank Nordmann ASARU – eine der ersten Black-Metal-Bands Südhessens und damit eine der langlebigsten Formationen des Genres in Deutschland. Seit jeher steht der Name ASARU für kompromisslosen Black Metal, der tief in den norwegischen Wurzeln verwurzelt ist, dabei jedoch stets eine eigene, charakterstarke Handschrift bewahrt hat. Von Anfang an verfolgten ASARU das Ziel, ihre ganz persönliche Vision des Black Metal zu verwirklichen – fernab von gängigen Szenekonventionen und ohne den Drang, Erwartungen zu erfüllen, außer den eigenen. Das Ergebnis ist ein vielschichtiges, durchweg eigenständiges Werk, das seit Jahrzehnten den deutschen Black Metal mitprägt: mal episch, mal thrashig, immer ideenreich, aber nie verspielt – und vor allem eines: absolut authentisch. In ihrer fast 30-jährigen Geschichte erlebte die Band zahlreiche Besetzungswechsel. Die konstante treibende Kraft blieb jedoch Frank Nordmann, der ASARU mit unerschütterlicher Leidenschaft durch die Jahre führte und dem eisigen Geist des Black Metal stets treu blieb. Nach zwei Demos, einer Mini-CD und dem gefeierten zweiten Longplayer From the Chasm of Oblivion (2012) meldet sich ASARU nun nach über einem Jahrzehnt eindrucksvoll zurück – mit neuem Songmaterial und einem klaren künstlerischen Konzept. Der erste Vorbote des kommenden Albums V.O.I.D. war die Single „Raise the Flame“ – ein wuchtiger Track über das Element Feuer, das sowohl Leben spendet als auch zerstört. Im dazugehörigen Videoclip entfaltet sich bereits die thematische Tiefe des Albums, das sich mit den vier Elementen ebenso auseinandersetzt wie mit den ewigen Gegenspielern: Menschlichkeit, Religion, Krieg und Untergang. Das neue Album V.O.I.D. erscheint am 23.01.2026 über Schwarzdorn Production – digital, als edle Digi-CD sowie in einer streng limitierten Vinyl-Auflage. Founded back in 1995 by Frank Nordmann, ASARU was one of the very first black metal bands to emerge from Southern Hesse – and has since become one of the most enduring acts of the genre in Germany. From the beginning, the name ASARU has stood for uncompromising black metal, deeply rooted in the Norwegian tradition yet always bearing its own distinctive and characterful signature. From the outset, ASARU pursued the goal of realizing their very own vision of black metal – far removed from common scene conventions and without the urge to meet any expectations other than their own. The result is a multifaceted and truly independent body of work that has shaped German black metal for decades: at times epic, at times thrashy, always creative but never frivolous – and above all: absolutely authentic. Throughout its almost 30-year history, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes. Yet the constant driving force has always been Frank Nordmann, who has led ASARU through the years with unwavering passion and a steadfast dedication to the icy spirit of black metal. After two demos, a mini-CD, and the acclaimed second full-length From the Chasm of Oblivion (2012), ASARU now return impressively after more than a decade – with new material and a clear artistic concept. The first harbinger of the forthcoming album V.O.I.D. was the single “Raise the Flame” – a powerful track about the element of fire, which both gives life and brings destruction. The accompanying music video already reveals the thematic depth of the album, which explores the four elements as well as their eternal counterparts: humanity, religion, war, and downfall. The new album V.O.I.D. will be released on January 23, 2026 via Schwarzdorn Production – available digitally, as a deluxe digipack CD, and in a strictly limited vinyl edition.
