The project began in 2016, when the two started meeting up most weekends to make music in their dad’s backyard shack. What started as casual sessions soon grew into a creative ritual, with many nights stretching on until sunrise. Out of that time came a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive, rooted in their connection as brothers. Across its nine tracks, Simmer Down moves fluidly between deep and melodic house, chill-out textures, and touches of hip hop. Jonasy’s presence is felt not just through vocals but also through putting his personal touch on the songs with live guitar, giving the music a raw and organic sound. The opener Feel It Out builds slowly and sets the stage with its spacey, cinematic pull, while tracks like The Fog and Who U R bring head-nodding drive. Songs such as When You Walk Around reveal a softer, melodic side, offering balance and depth. Originally finished before Tyler’s move to Arizona in 2018, the album sat unreleased for years. Shared privately among friends, it carried a timeless quality that never faded. When the record made its way to Mise en Place, it felt just as fresh and vital as the day it was made.
